Where I Stand

Responsible Growth

Progress is inevitable. Responsible leadership is a choice.

There's no stopping progress, and there's no stopping growth. Nor should there be.

Communities evolve. Families move in. Businesses invest. New opportunities emerge. Growth is a sign that people see value in a community — and that's something we should welcome.

The responsibility of city leadership isn't to stand in the way of progress. It's to make sure we manage it wisely.

Every decision we make today will shape Independence for decades to come. That's why I believe growth should always be thoughtful, intentional, and centered around the people who already call this city home.

Growth Must Work for Our Community

Growth should never be measured simply by the number of homes being built or businesses opening. The real measure of success is whether growth improves the quality of life for our residents.

As Independence continues to grow, we must ask:

These aren't obstacles to growth. They're the questions responsible leaders should ask before making important decisions.

Infrastructure Should Lead Growth — Not Chase It

One of the biggest challenges facing growing communities is allowing development to outpace infrastructure. Roads become congested. Stormwater systems become overwhelmed. Public services become stretched. Residents begin to feel like growth is happening to them instead of for them.

Infrastructure planning should happen alongside development — not years afterward. Planning ahead today saves taxpayers money tomorrow.

Protecting What Makes Independence Special

People choose Independence because it offers something unique: strong neighborhoods, excellent schools, a safe community, local businesses, parks, and a small-town feel with access to everything Northern Kentucky has to offer.

As we grow, we should never lose sight of the reasons families chose to live here in the first place. Responsible growth means protecting our community's identity while preparing for its future.

Supporting Local Businesses

Growth isn't only about new housing. It's also about creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs and strengthening the businesses that already serve our community.

As a small business owner, I understand firsthand how important it is to have local government that listens, removes unnecessary barriers, and creates an environment where businesses can succeed. A thriving local economy benefits everyone.

Listening Before Deciding

Every development decision affects someone's neighborhood. That's why residents deserve a seat at the table. City government should communicate openly, encourage public participation, and genuinely consider community input before major decisions are made.

Good leadership starts with listening.

Thinking Beyond the Next Election

One of the reasons I decided to run is because I believe we need leaders who are thinking beyond the next budget cycle or the next election. The decisions we make today will shape the city my generation — and future generations — will inherit.

I want to help build an Independence that today's residents continue to love and tomorrow's families are proud to call home.

My Commitment

As your City Council member, I will support growth that:

  • Strengthens — not strains — our infrastructure.
  • Protects the character of our neighborhoods.
  • Encourages responsible economic development.
  • Supports locally owned businesses.
  • Prioritizes transparency and community input.
  • Plans for the next generation, not just the next project.

Building Independence's Future

Responsible growth isn't about saying "yes" to every project. It isn't about saying "no" to every project. It's about making thoughtful decisions, asking the right questions, and ensuring every decision moves Independence forward while preserving the values that have made our city such a wonderful place to call home.

I believe we can welcome progress without losing our identity. I believe we can continue growing while protecting the community we love. And I believe that with thoughtful leadership, we can continue Building Independence's Future — responsibly, sustainably, and together.
